Interesting comments about Abe's of Maine. I've purchased many bodies and lenses through the years with absolutely NO ISSUES other than follow-up calls for accessories. Always prompt delivery with no quality issues....

Bit of luck probably, after I got above horizon, I had no reference point to keep it straight. Using the the onscreen level while in live view helps. I went up to the 90 degree point, and then rotated the head 180 degrees and went back down on the other side.

Both RobDickinson and Mackie have posted some good vertical pano's and might be able to shed light on a better method.

Full 180 pano's I used to do with my manfrotto 190xprob with the centre column horizontal, ise the L plate and rotate the camera.

Now I just use the gigapan..

Settings are: 190mm | 94 seconds | f/20
Focus point is at the Observatory Building & Highlight/Shadows fixed in post.
