All the negative crap you read about the 6D is precisely that....crap.

I have said this hundreds of times: IT'S NOT THE CAMERA THAT MAKES A GREAT PICTURE.
I read the same garbage as you do.....only 1/4000.....only 4.5 frames a second.......only 11 point focus........only blah, blah...regurgitate, regurgitate, regurgitate...blah....​....wah....

Puleeze.........this is one ass kickin' camera. And, my friend, if you can't make fantastic, take-my-breath-away pictures that people want to have hanging on their walls with it....then you simply need to quit this hobby and take up needle point or stamp collecting.

Go and buy the camera that you appear to want but are afraid to buy because of what others think of it! Screw them.....do what you know is best. You will be thrilled.

I think I have the best of both worlds. I own a 6D and a 7D2. I shoot concert and sports. For quite some time, I only used the 6D. And it was glorious. Then I decided to start shooting birds. Since I needed more distance, I went with the 7D2 which gave me the crop factor and the speed of focus with 63 points. Now I do use the 7D2 for some sports, but I still use the 6D for low light sports.
So while I have the option of using the 7D2, I still rely heavily on the 6D which is older and ONLY has 11 focus points, and ONLY 4.5 FPS and ONLY looks clean up to ISO 51200. Yep, I use that ISO in my concert photography and the center focus point literally sees in the dark.
So it does have some limitations, but as mentioned, you don't want to jump to a 5D3, the 6D is a perfect entry into FF. And it is quite a star if you let it do its job.

I barely use my 6d just cause I always have my Ricoh GR in my pocket, but I just bought the 17-40mm L and hope to start using it much more. My daughter just turned 9 and we went to this indoor kart place with games and stuff and I knew it would be a very dark place inside. My best option was the 6d with the 50mm 1.8 I had just to work in the low light. My photos are by no means great. I just wanted to capture her having fun, so for me they work just fine. I feel like the 6d has tons to offer and it really is a great option for when you need to push the ISO. I think it will be one of my favorite DSLR's yet.

This. Same here. 7D2 for wildlife and 6D for everything else. I also use a Sony A6000 when I don't want to drag the big Canons around. All work well. The 6D shines in low light, as sirquack and others have said, so it is my go=to rig for live music shows.

My pics aren't to sell you on the 6d as I don't have the skills to do that. I'm just an average guy that wanted to have the option of some decent pics in a dark setting. I'm sure I could've gotten better shots, but this was all I needed for a simple birthday party. Others here have clearly shown what the 6d is capable of and I do not doubt it for a second.

Nuttin' wrong with them my friend and you will love the 17-40! ( but the 50 is a little faster.)

Hey Chris,I know how you feel. I was in the same spot about a year ago and I even sold my camera and the gear.My photo mojo was totally dead.I didn't owned a camera for about 4 months or so.For me that was the time,when I realized,I can't go on without it.So I bought 6D and some lenses.I'm glad I did,cause I'm loving it. (Sorry about my poor english).

Clearly a truly awful, awful camera. Canon should refund all buyers immediately citing the last 413 pages from this thread as evidence

It may 'only' have 11 focus points, but it trumps my 7D2 in low light conditions every day of the week.
