A couple months ago I shot the finish line of a local 10k. As you can see the end of the race was, uhm, pretty dark. There was a construction site generator with flood system behind me, but I still had to crank my ISO up to 8000 and that made me pretty nervous. Another company did the editing and I was impressed. They said they added a very small amount of noise reduction.

I never looked at the original photos on my memory card until tonight. We were to shoot medium jpg. This is slightly cropped, but otherwise it is straight out of the camera. I have to say that I'm OK with that high of an ISO on this type of shot.

Woke up this morning to this spectacular sunrise behind Mr. Hood, as seen from the deck of my house! Scrambled a bit setting up the camera and tripod and missed the best of the early light, so by the time I was ready, it was already too bright. This is what i got:

Truth be told, the mountain is 60 miles away as the crow flies, but thanks to the lay of the land, and a long lens, it looks like it's right next to my house!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

6D performed generally admirably on trip to Costa Rica for wildlife. Paired with Tamron 150-600, I tag teamed it with the 7Dii and the Canon zoom. It is quite enjoyable to shoot even though it is relatively simple and bare bones compared with the 7Dii. Sometimes that is a good thing.
