None of these photos appeal to me. However, having said that, these photos have generated as we have seen here, varying thoughts and opinions and have even got people discussing them even in this, a strictly non political forum.

That alone makes them damned good photos.

Problem is it is not exactly a comment on the photo.

Is their 'stature' due to some kind of bullet proof vest under their clothes ?? Hope this is in the spirit of the picture, they must be carrying a fair few lb's of equipment there and it looks warm too...........

I wouldn't know the answer to your question but the darks could have been lightened a little in my opinion, be it ever so humble.

Any advise on settings for a main bird photog? I had been considering buying one and got an incredible deal on this camera in a bundle so it pushed me over the edge. Bought it for all round photography but also when in situations of low light and static shots of birds. Any input appreciated.

Gees, Bill..........what am I missing?

I just looked at your flickr.......appears to me that you don't need any advise. You're pretty darn good as it is. Is there something specific that you're looking for?

Pretty nondescript photos but as I just got the 6D yesterday, I stepped outside to take a couple of shots to check it over. Soon stepped back in though as it's 37d out there! At 100% neither lens came close to matching the 100-400mkll which is just amazing at any length and aperture. Can't wait to try it on the 6D

I see you have a 500/4. It's a known scientific fact that it's impossible to take a rubbish shot with that lens so you've no need to worry. As Saea501 stated, your Flicker is superb, you need no advice from me...............

Appreciate the comments. Those shots are all with my 7DmkII and the 6D is new so was looking for anything anyone may have to offer.

Only thing I might tell you is what I experienced going from a 600D to the 6D and that is pretty vague, and it may be just me. The 6D acts different, it took some time for me to get used to. I started shooting it just as I did my 600D and my initial results were not as good as the 600. My pictures were usually much darker given the settings that I was using which were very much like what I was using with the 600. This was exacerbated if I was outside in bright sun and it was worse if I was dealing with a sun/ shade situation. So I was a little bit disappointed.

Took me a month or so to get dialed in to the 6D but at this point I can get pretty much exactly the results I want in any situation. You may be able to step right into this camera but it took me a bit.

Good luck to you......I think you'll really start digging it after a little courtship.

I found the same with my first shoot today. It was a bright day and I took some shots of a highway bridge over an estuary...............identical shots to those that I had taken previously with both the 7dmkll and a 5D3, which were fine. With the 6D, using the Tokina ATX 11-16 and Canon 24-105 I found the highlights/clouds were more blown whilst at the same time the underneath of the bridge (shadows) were more filled and the pillars had severe purple fringing on one side and green fringing on the opposite side when I tried to recover the shadows. I couldn't recover either to get a usable pic but as I haven't used either lens in a long while, I won't jump to any conclusion on the camera yet.

Congratulations, Kev. It's a great wee camera. I use mine for the hill-walking all the time combined with 24-70 f/4 IS. I just love that combo.
