I just called in to say cheerio, all the best and thankyou for your company. I have swapped my 6D for Panasonic G9. I now hibernate while I learn to use it! :)

I'm keeping mine, but it isn't a fun camera to shoot like others I own/have owned. Also, I just got this.

That's a shame, Dane.

I know you didn't like it at first but I thought you might as you spent more time with it. :-(

I can't really put it into words, but the colors have an artificial look to them. Everything else is fine, but there's a strange purple/magenta hue that still annoys me, haha. Kind of like when people talk about the wonky colors Sony sensors produce - I think it's similar.

Take a stroll through this thread and perhaps you'll see what I mean. That old 12.8mp sensor is still the best I've ever used, by miles. It may not have all the fancy new tech, but my eyeballs don't care about any of that stuff.

As far as the X100F goes, this is a whole new ballgame. I'm annoyed with all the menus and settings, but just look at it! Who could say no!? I never, ever thought I'd use an EVF (guilty...), and I never ever thought I'd shoot an APS-C camera again. The Acros film simulation is going to really change things for me, that I can already tell. It's a much more invisible camera than a FF DSLR, which I already appreciate.

Again though, the 6d isn't going anywhere and I haven't put it on the shelf next to the old 5d yet. For the sake of it, the only reason I bought the 6d is because I dropped my 5d in January of this year and knocked the AF out of alignment. It works fine aside from that. Nobody wants to fix it, and I can't get myself to get rid of it.

I do believe you have hit the nail on the head. I personally can not fault the camera, I found it's IQ with good lenses to be brilliant but for me, ( I am 70 and permanently unwell with emphysema) it was uncomfortable to use. It is indeed, a very serious camera and my 400D with kit lenses was more fun. The G9 is just a whole lot easier for me to use.

Yep, totally feel ya. It has taken me a long time (a solid year) to be happy with my editing with the 6D files. The colors are exactly like the ones out of my EOS M which is not great if you ask me. The old 5D produced great photos right out of the gate with very little push/pull in post. Contrast is better, etc.

Mirroring your X100F, I have an EOS M with the 22mm f2 pancake and that's my fun personal camera. These 6D's are definitely purposeful tools without a sense of humor. I will say that focus accuracy, sharpness, and ISO of the 6D blow the 5D away, but I miss the colors and warmth of the 5D files.....looks like I may buy another one this summer....

What the heck........I don't get any of this. I spend very little time editing my pictures. Colors are great...I just don't have to do much to them.

I guess I got the only 6D ever built that can focus on moving objects and requires little post work.

I caught a neat Black Vulture landing sequence the other day.

I love how he opens and curves his wings to meet his fanned tail to make himself into a big parachute. He slowed almost to a mid air stop.

I don't usually shoot these guys just because they're not what you'd call a handsome bird. But he does have some neat markings on his wings.

I'm glad you're happy with yours. There's a lot of things to like about the 6D, but it's not perfect for me. Lucky and I have just been spoiled by the 5D files. Cool colors (greens, blues, etc) are great out of the camera, but I'm finding it hard to get the warm colors right as I edit. That's a problem if you're doing mostly portraits at golden hour. Sunlight never really looks as golden as it did out of the 5D - it always looks just straight yellow or brownish yellow.

Hi,

my 6D (from Simply Electronics) has this firmware: 5.7.4 78 (1f) -?

I do not know why but it is not official Canon Firmware. Do you know how can i flash an official firmware?

All functions with EOS Utility on my computer can not be used because the camera is not known :(
