It chooses speeds a bit less than 1/focal length that many times is not enough for a steady shot. I'd like some more speed available and i cant set this in the menu...

I always choose the minimum shutter speed manually because the camera ALWAYS gets it wrong...! If I'm shooting my 135mm I will choose a min shutter speed of 1/250. 1/125 is too slow and there's nothing in between. I have enough cameras at this point where I don't focus on the negative bits anymore. Just work around it. The weird magenta hue doesn't bother me so much anymore as I can always just use a different camera.

I agree, I think the 6D does the best job in "auto" mode only in the ISO area. I manually choose everything else, except the odd time I'm doing waterfalls or something & go into shutter priority or aperture priority. I set the ISO when I have complete control, which is rare.

I used to run my 6D in mostly ISO 100 and mainly aperture priority. 99.9 percent of the time my ISO was locked.

I shoot in aperture priority with auto ISO all the time unless the camera is on a tripod - my X100F is the same deal. But I always set the minimum shutter speed on the Canon because the 'auto' setting can't ever get it right. It makes it easy when I really only use 2 lenses, and one of those two is on the camera 95% of the time. I shake too much to do the old focal length trick - I have to double it. So my 135mm I set to 1/250 min shutter speed, because there is no option for 1/180, and it will default to 1/125......and I will NOT get a sharp photo at 1/125..! I still don't understand why the camera can't figure this out, but it just can't. Without setting the minimum shutter speed manually, auto iso is completely useless to me.

Yes, in a perfect world, my ISO would be locked down. However, the majority of what I shoot does not allow for this. I shoot sports mainly. This means I am dealing with all shades of skin coloring, different colored uniforms (some very different, like black & white), different lighting situations (half the field in sun, the other in complete shadow or hats/helmets with head/face is in complete shadow).

Controllable situations are different. When I'm shooting macro, something in the studio, or using flash, I set everything including ISO.

Went to Benezett on a day that should have been perfect to watch & listen to bull elk fight over their mate(s). It was not to be. A very large bull came out early making a lot of noise walking up & down the meadow for about 10 minutes then went back into the woods. We all thought it as a good sign, but he was the last elk we saw all night. It was a beautiful one, though. Wish there was something in the shot to show scale.

Well, an important photography lesson learned today. I take most of my fungi shots at a local nature reserve just a couple of miles away. Recently they have put a few semi-wild horses into the nature reserve. I started taking a couple of carrots with me and although the horses were very skittish at first, the seem to have got used to me.... and the carrots. I normally take my photographs and then go find the horses. Today I made the mistake of feeding the horses before taking my shots. They just wouldn't leave me alone and they kept sniffing around the 6D like they wanted to eat it. Lovely horses though :-)
