how often do you shoot portraits in bright direct sunlight (9AM-5PM). In those scenarios, 1/8000 would help you shoot an extra hour or so on both ends up to 10AM and as early as 4PM. All the time in between, you'll still need an ND filter if shooting really harsh sunlight.

I hardly ever shoot wide open and hard sun light. I'de rather be in the shade making photos than direct sun. I cant remember 1/8000 ever being an issue.

fairly small issue in practice. I have a set of ND's I use with my fast lenses in bright sun from my 5D2 days, and those rarely get used as is.

It's not all that often but sometimes when shooting 35mm wide open you suck up a whole lot of light. Every now and then I really like the look of harsh light with a reflector for a bit of balance for a high fashion editorial type shoot.

No worries on telling someone how to shoot, I don't see it that way. It's great to hear some insight from people that use this body as I currently use 5Dc day to day.

Just curious on max shutter speed as all the 5D's have a max of 1/8000 but for some reason the 6D has a max of 1/4000
