Yes but I managed to catch it and press it back on! BTW I don't change the mode very much either.

I have turned it maybe 8 times total. I shoot in AV mode mostly, with a touch of M. I unfortunately have no idea where the thing went. Outside of this forum, seems to be an issue out there as I found plenty of complaints against that. That said, 5th canon DSLR i have owned over the years and very first issue ever... counting my blessings that its a cheap fix!
