Both are great lenses. The reviews on both lenses are great. Some people would like to dismiss them because the build quality and heft are not L. Performance-wise, I fee they're damn close to the L versions. I bought my 50 from a friend that said what do you want this toy for? Well, to fill in between 2 L zooms I have, and as one of my faster lenes. I don't use it often, but have no qualms doing so if neeeded. multidisciplinary visual guy, professor of visual art, irresponsible and salty.

I guess it comes down to how contrasty and cluttered the background is but when you remove those two aspects and get close enough, the bokeh is amazing.
