WHat processing did you do here?

SOOC. Not a whole lot: curves, sharpening, levels. Probably it.

You're probably gonna have to shoot around f/2-2.8. That shot of the dog was at iso 100, f/1.4 and 1/1250. Was your iso as low down as it could go??

I used to have the same problem on my xxxD body. During the day, f/1.4 would exceed the max shutter speed of 1/4000 sec. I always had to stop down to f/2.2 or more to get the right exposure. Ever since I got my 7D, I've had no more issues since it can do 1/8000 sec.

ehhhh try a ND filter. You shouldn't be shooting mid day anyways. Jordan mostly shoots at the golden hour or around shade. You won't need that high of a shutter even when shooting wide open at the golden hour.

My post was a response to someone else's question about shooting wide open in bright light. An ND filter is on my list of things to get.

My first post.

Got into photography for fun a few months ago but playing around mostly with a p&s. Bought a 550D 10 days ago and use the 50/1.4 as my main walkaround lens. Lens choice was made by you guys and your wonderful advice, knowledge and technique.

I certainly do not have many of your skills but have been shooting a lot.

Thank you guys.

2 pics taken recently.

Regards
