Finally got my 5D MKii and 50mm 1.4 in the mail today. =) Quick walk around town with them. So far, I think I'm quite happy. :D

I'm pretty sure the photo was split-toned. But the purple fringing around the bright areas of the wheel is quite noticeable, and is one of my biggest turn-offs from this lens as well.

It only occurs wide-open, as far as I can tell. Look at the boy's right shoulder, at the edge of his collar and shirt:

i could deal with that honestly and just not shoot wide open i guess although 1.4 is so awesome but its weird i dont see that on all the wide open shots just yall two

It depends on your photographic style. Some people never notice while others can´t use a lens for such a reason.

I believe it's also correctable in post. But it doesn't always happen..it seems to need the right conditions. Here's another wide-open without chromatic aberration (aka purple fringing):
