Ed, I should clarify. I shoot raw only, but my Sigma 30mm at f/1.4 images are sharp OOC while my Canon 50mm at f/1.4 is not. I do no other manipulations and the Sigma is spot-on, while the Canon is not.

I would send it to canon for a re-cal job.

Yes, a D50. I just held it up carefully to the mount and shot through it.

Maureen,

That's the kind of images that I'd like to get at f/1.4 with mine. I couldn't pull the EXIF data from your image - what's its aperture?

TIA

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

have you looked through the thread? not all the photos were captured at f/1.4

a photo (above) just on the same page was shot a 2.0, for example.

Gee, Einstein, thanks for the tip. Now go back and review the thread - you'll see many shots are not at f/1.4.

Oh, and your copy of the lens looks soft, too.

My husband bought me the 50mm f1.4 for Christmas. I practiced with it at a house party last night and I LOVE it. Here is one photo I took with it. I am sure this will quickly become one of my favs!

Ron - great lighting, exposure and composure on this shot. To me, though, the center looks a little soft - perhaps it's a compression artifact. Can you post a 100% crop of the focal point?

Thanks,

Tony

Nah, it's soft. You're right. It isn't, as a rule, but that was a really quick grab, and it was actually focused on her shoulder toward the camera. She just didn't look long enough for me to switch focus.
