The bad/soft lens can be fix by a visit to the Canon service center.

I sure hope so. The lens is going to Canon this week.

That looks soft to me. Can you post a 100% crop of the focal point?

100% from unedited original...ISO 1600..artifacts..and you're right, it is a bit soft
Also..double checked the data, and this is actually f1.6 1/60

It's probably the 1600. Mine is noticeably sharper at f/1.8, but not exceptional until f/2. I am hopeful Canon can fix it.

Well I thought I should post some pics seeing as I found this forum very useful when I was choosing a lens!!! The 50mm f/1.4 is fantastic! Here are 2 photos taken with it in China, the first taken at f/2.8 and the second at f/1.4.

Spectacular!

Gee, Einstein, thanks for the tip. Now go back and review the thread - you'll see many shots are not at f/1.4.

Oh, and your copy of the lens looks soft, too.

Have you ever tried not being an *******?

Let's see, how did it start? Oh, yeah, I remember:

Post your Canon 50/1.4 @ f/1.4 images!

Perhaps you should pay more attention to the thread before making such asinine comments.

It's a love hate relationship with this lens.....it hates it when I push it to do shots it does not want to do......It's a dynamite lens for the money when I shoot with in it's means, that's when I love it

Was the doctor shot posed? If it was it looks very natural.
