I don't know if it's the compression or if their skin is just naturally like that, but it looks wayyy too smooth with no texture left. For the young boy I could see it, but for the man it looks unnatural.

First time using curves outside of film-like edits. Did it still turn out film ish? lol

Taylor! I think it looks perfect and you got what you wanted. It's not too overdone either which is nice to see. Also I think your composition and exposure makes the picture that much better. What kind of curves did you use to get your look?

This picture looks too perfect haha. Everything about it looks like it posed just for you; the sky, rooftops, everything.

Beautiful backdrop; your model's hair somehow really MAKES the picture for me.

Attended one of the events of one of the largest beverage makers in the Philippines. Took shots on the products displayed. ;)

Thank you! Before this photo I had honestly only used curvers when following online tutorials for film like edits. Which was usually just a green curve layer and that was it.

For this photo I just moved the R,G,B curves separately just a little until I found a combination that looked natural yet pleasing. I don't know much about it, still doing lots of learning about curves online. Now I need to learn how to save RGB curves so I can use them again. I don't know how to manuver CS4 very well. :/

I want to ask you some questions. I am thinking of getting Canon 50mm f/1.4. How's the build quality, and have you encountered widely-discussed problems with this lens, such as AF not functioning and soft images at f/1.4?

Thank you for your help in advance!

I've owned plenty of lenses, and the 50mm 1.4 is a well built lens. I've never owned the 50mm 1.8 so I can't compare it to that. The metal mount is nice, thats for sure. Its just a touch lighter than my Sigma 30mm 1.4 was.

I might get 1 out of 10-20 shots or so at 1.4 that seems like it might have missed focus. But 99% of the time its user error or trying to use f1.4 when its just not wise.
