I did the same thing, only I gave up after the first one. Didn't want to deal with the hassle of getting a second bad copy. I'm VERY happy with my Canon 50. Sharp at 1.4, and lightweight....fast focusing. It may not feel as sturdy as the Sigma, but in the end, it's the IQ we really care about anyway.

Couldn't agree more. Can't wait to get it so I can get shooting again. I'm kind of burnt out on using the 70-200 F/4L as a walk around lens.

I got rid of my 17-40mm L and got this one (on the way).

I was not pleased with the ultra wide.

Sorry to hear that your second copy wasn't a good copy either. You will be happy with the Canon version. My first real shots with it were great!

I have a hard time deciding which 50mm I enjoy more. Here's two more from the 1.4EF, commercial shoot in a Gulfstream G3.

The funny thing is, I have a great copy of the Siggy 1.4 and seem to be using it more lately as it just a bit wider.

I know I've said it before, but I am amazed at all the great images there are posted through out this forum. Nice job, all!

Hi, lots of nice pictures. I wonder if you have any photos with 50mm 1.2. I currently use 35mm 1,4L but thinking about buying 50mm 1.2. I still have my first lens 50mm 1.8. I mean for the price its amazing piece but quite slow and unrealable. Thanks for your samples. Jacob | reportage wedding photographer (external link)

Has anyone had any luck micro-adjusted this lens? My copy seems soft. I thought it was me but then had a friend use it and he agreed.

I honestly don't think I've ever used my 50 1.4, but this thread has inspired me to slap it on my camera today after I land in Manila and just walk around with it.

Great stuff in this thread!

Yes, it handles M.A. well. Mine is at +4 on the 1Ds MkIII.
