I really like to shoot in very low light and with no flash!... so, that presents a problem!.
I continue to pursue how to do this and its a real challenge for me being simply an enthusiastic amateur.

So, I decided to buy the Canon 50mm 1.4 lens in the hope that it would help me with this problem. I'm enclosing two (2) shots taken with the 50mm 1.4 lens.

One was taken in the daylight and the other in a very very dark Cabaret club.
All in all, I'm quite happy with this lens. I do get some great "Bokeh" at very large apertures.

And, I never ever use any Photoshop to doctor up my shots." I do try to get it right the first time"

I get sharp results with the 1.4 wide open with effort. I was pretty pleased with this one I took the other week.

Very nice examples of this great little lens in this thread

Sorry, always stop down a little.. f/2 or f/2.2. After the 70-200 2.8 IS, my favourite lens.

I just got the lens in the mail today and am working my way through it. Here's my shot from this afternoon.

Okay, nothing fancy, but I just got mine and the DOF is insane! (I normally don't take pictures of the house address or the string in the blinds...LOL) ;)

My Mother: 88 years old and sharp as the sharpest part of this shallow DoF photo.

Set for Tv 1/50, hand held, no flash, f 1.6 selected. Program mode with a single focus point.

I just had the lens a short time when we went for a visit. Camera is new, too, though I had an earlier version of the Rebel. I am pleased for a first go with this lens.

My first post on this forum. I am learning a lot and enjoying even more than that.

Good early effort there! If you want some C&C - try to get focus dead on the eye (it is on the hair on the forehead here). Hand held 1/50 is the limit for this lens - if you can up the ISO slightly and try and go for a faster shutter speed.

Feel free to ignore comments if C&C not welcome!

Phil

great shots everyone. Even though I did sell my copy off to fund for the 35L, I do still miss the 50mm 1.4 ... that is, until I pick up my 35L again

all kidding aside, I think I may have to pick up this lens again. it has served me well.
