hey nothing wrong with trying to do it on the cheap! only coment i have on these is that the shirt you use as background, tuck it under the baseboard at the end so it will not be a visible blurry line, but straight cut off.

Well, this lens did the magic...
There is almost no PP (I only sharpen a little bit and brighten this image.)
PS - I was suprised that at ISO 1000 there is very little noise, even when looking at 100% crop..
I guess if scene is bright you can shoot with 40d at iso 1000-1600 and do not worry about noise :)

wondeful kid!

Thanks!
:)

yea i know i should have let it drape down a little more and tucked it under but it was just a practice run, before i headed out for the night.

I love that setup jcp2000. We've obviously got very similar photography budgets. Even our gear list is nearly identical.

SFordPhoto,

Great shots! I love the background! Nice use of off-camera lighting as well!

Haha thanks!

I actually didn't use any lighting at all...all ambient light. Shot wide open, ISO 1600...and was still getting shutters of about 1/50.

The sodium streetlamps were really orange in terms of white balance, so cooling off the white balance had two effects: less orange skin and a bluer background ;)
