Hi from Italy!

Husband and I are driving from Prince George to Prince Rupert and then back and down as far as Lake Louise, in September.

Would you suggest a SUV or a normal car is more than enough?

In Africa I wouldn't have any doubt as an higher car is much better for wildlife photography and in Jasper National park or also for possible sightings on the way, is it better the SUV?

An SUV would be good if you get a fall storm, or if you decide to follow a couple camping trails for a better view.
There are lots of opportunities for wildlife spotting from the side of the road.
Enjoy your trip.
