This young Albino (I know, you may call him leucistic) Hairy Woodpecker has been hanging out here for over a week now. He's still with Dad from time to time, but usually is on his own....he LOVES peanuts. He flies in, glues himself to the peanut feeder for half an hour or more, then leaves for the rest of the day. He stands his ground very nicely when the Blue Jays try to take the feeder away from him.

Thanks Eric. I was close, and he didn't even flinch.

That is one smart looking bird. My Hairys are quite skittish, so hope his bravado doesn't get him into trouble.

He is a looker, Rog. The Hairys here are very tolerant...both them and the Downys. When I'm out filling feeders, they will both sit and watch me until I get maybe 4 feet away, then they fkit t a ckoseby tree to wait me out.
