CC photos taken at outdoor dance festival

First pic was during the day with the sun but I had to deal with some really bad outdoor stage lighting on the second pic. I used a flash - not knowing any better :oops::oops:. but then again all i had for a zoom was a tamron 70-300 so I didn't have a choice.

Anyways, these 2 are what I think were my best shots. I'd really appreciate it if you guys critiqued and criticized.

Also just fyi I wasn't working the festival - im just a parent with a camera.

Image quality took a hit when I uploaded to facebook(i pulled the attached images from there)

Well, not much to critique here. Your focus was on, the white balance and saturation look good, and you got some very interesting expressions (especially that second one). You didn't have control over the lighting, so can't fault you for the shadows. It looks like you softened them nicely in post, though.

I guess the only thing missing is a wider shot of the whole dance. Other than that, well done.

I was thinking the same....you zoomed in too much here excluding much of the body gestures. The man's eyes are covered so not much going on here also.....the hat isn't enough to carry the shot.
