Is it a lighthouse?

I figured people would look at the image and see a few things:

There's a vast expanse of water to the east
The shoreline is undeveloped
The land is somewhat marshy
The photo is taken from a considerable height
There is some ornamentation on the building visible in the view

So yes, a lighthouse is a perfectly reasonable (and correct) starting assumption since it's unlikely to be a city skyscraper or a beachside condo or hotel.

There could be such a view from the western shore of the great lakes but it is eastern seaboard. Most northern lighthouses seem to be on rocks, piers or in the water, so not north.

NC? Is it currently closed for restoration?

Turns out those spires aren't all that uncommon on lighthouses... lol

Does the spot you have in mind have swamp like that to the east and similar iron adornments?

Actually was between two... both have the iron adornments, but one of the views doesn't really match... So.......

Does it rhyme with Cody?

Hallelujah! Well worth the visit, and we got an interesting talk by one of the park rangers about U-boats in WW2. Schedule your tour online. 30 minutes; the others in our party left early and we had the place (and the rangers) to ourselves for most of that time.

Any satmaps will show the marsh surrounding the lighthouse, and the iron adornments are visible in pics:

All yours, Nick!
