I was wondering what a hogan would look like if you took the nice domed lid off it?

Like this :-)

US?

Yes.

Navajo?

No. But used by some other Native American Indian nations.

It doesn't much look like a hogan.

It is not designed to be a hogan. But it is something designed to be like a Native Indian structure. A hint is there is more than one level. One level you can see above ground.

Utah?

Yes!

Yes!

Please don't tell us that there is a missile silo under it!

There is NOT a missile silo under it. I can't exactly tell you what was underneath, as I didn't climb down the creepy wooden ladder, but my wife did, and she doesn't remember even being there. It was almost 13 years ago.

It's in Monument Valley.

Maybe time for a hint or two. Yes, Utah, as guessed above. The structure is visible from the Google car. It is not in Monument Valley. If you Google up hogan, you will notice the roof structure is similar, and the use/purpose of the structure is similar, yet it is not called a hogan.

It was on Google view the other day, so I'm guessing it still is. I won't be driving out there myself to check though.

No. It is in a somewhat small-ish town in Utah, and adjacent to a restaurant (which might be closed).
