What a beautiful flower and what stunning colours. Compositionally it is a perhaps too central for my taste. You could try to move in closer to the flower and offset it in order to emphasise those gorgeous petals.

They really are beautiful flowers and hope you dont mind me saying this (constructive advice) if you want to get the best from a photograph of the Marigold and the best from your 100mm macro, then get much, much closer and get an angle on that beautiful centre, or even head-on but really close so you see nothing else around it.

Lots of flowers are suitable for really close macro pics, dahlias are another one with their lovely swirling petals.

Give it a go, you will love the effect :D

Your advice is appreciated, Linda. Actually I was just experimenting with a homemade flash diffuser on the Yongnuo YN565EX when I took the photo. I was impressed with the colors enough to post it.
