It was the shape of a Mourning Dove, but appeared to be totally black and larger than a Mourning Dove. It kept flying around in the barn without making any sound. In the wild as well as in captivity these guys have a large variation in the gene pool for feather color. Try googling Black Rock Pigeon and see if that matches up. --
