Typical perching pose, looking out for females with which to mate or ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey.

Focus on wings a little better on this one

Not quite sure what's happening to the Darter's wing as there appears to be some ember-like spots of flare? I don't actually mind this as it gives the impression that the dragon's wings are being ignited and about to catch fire.

Beautiful shots, colour, composition and sharpness are superb.

I believe the dots are mites that have attached themselves. I saw a pic the other day it was either a DF or damsel, can't think where but prob on FB, and it was covered in them

Probably specular reflections..

Archibald, perceptively spotted and as you pointed out it would appear that they are probably specular reflections.

Linda, I still like your initial explanation but then again I'm always attracted to the more imaginative and less literal theories
