I am in the business of getting (my first) tripod. Started going through the POTN threads and guess what: I found everything needed to make a (hopefully good) choice.
LOVE THIS FORUM! Thank you all for your insights and contributions!

Oh: I am getting a meFOTO Globetrotter. Fits my budget and my mobility needs.

P.S. And I also got a Domke Bag (F2)....

Happy camper :)

I had the MeFoto Road trip found it to be to small with my gear. I looke at the Globe Trotter and it looked slightly bigger than the Road Trip.

What camera and lens will you he using with it?

It was a great tripod, I just didn't like the last leg section it was so small and thin.

The current travel setup is a 60D with a 15-85. The Globetrotter should hopefully be oversized for this.

And you will never get a bigger camera and/or longer lens?

I wouldn't use the word never - but it's not on my radar. Need to improve my skills not gear.
What are you aiming at? Would you have a better suggestion (in terms of price for utility...)? Is there a substantial issue if I e.g. would use a 70-200 with this tripod?

I looked at the globe trotter because it was on sale, and they had tax free at my local camera store. Knowing there was vibration on my road trip with the 70-200, this tripod just didn't do it for me. That will be my biggest lens, and I just couldn't see myself comfortable with leaving it alone for a few minutes.

I know they say buy once and never look back, but I dot think spending $1000 on a tripod was the right choice for me. I ended up going with a Benro based on seeing it in use while out shooting. The bottom section is more robust than the globe trotter and so is the upper section.

Stay with it if it works for you, that's what matters most anyways.

A MeFoto is a cost-reduced Benro. Benro does not sell their best models directly in the US, but they can be sourced from mainland China easily through eBay dealers and they carry a 5 year warranty. Worth looking at.

Thanks NManuel01 and peter_n for your input. So far I am really happy with my choice. Fair compromise of cost, portability and stability. Not perfect but so far so good.

If it works for you, that's truly all that matters.
