After months of procrastinating I finally got around to making this website I bought a domain name for. Visuals are done, pictures are uploaded and barring a final check of whether I've included all the pictures I want to include (and whether I've removed all the pictures I shouldn't show) I'm down to the text.

I have a blog section which is currently empty, and will stay that way until I have something worthwhile to say. My problem is the 'about me' page. I'm an amateur, a hobbyist, I'm not looking for business or bookings. Mostly this site exists just so I have my own corner where I can post my best work (or failing that, my favourite work). I don't have credentials, famous clients, testimonials, or particular accomplishments besides winning a really minor weekly photo competition somewhere on the net, and getting an 'in the spotlight' page about one of my shots in a photography magazine (that doesn't really have a wide circulation).

I feel it's important to have an 'about me' page, just to make the site a little more personal instead of just - bam - here's my pictures. I just don't really know what to write about. I've seen a number of discussions about this but they all related to pro photogs trying to gain business, so not at all what I'm after. Any tips?

P.S. Definitely planning on adding a photo of me but still looking for one.
P.P.S. If it matters, here's the website: www.wtbphoto.com (external link)
P.P.P.S. Is the first image of the homepage gallery loading slow for you too?

How about using something like you said here. I think it would come across very well. Something like, " I don't have credentials, famous clients, testimonials, or particular accomplishments and I'm not looking for business or bookings. What I am is a amateur photographer and this is my little corner of the world."

That sounds perfect for what it sounds like the OP is looking for.

My bio page was blank until last year and then I finally decided to put something in it. Here's what it says now:

I take pictures. I also dislike writing stuff about myself. More info and stuff about me will be coming soon though (eventually..or well maybe sometime)!
