:D Read yesterday that the Canon 18-300mm 3.5-5.6 IS STM, is likely to be announced when Canon announces the new Canon 7d Mark ii and possible new updated 100-400mm replacement. The rumor is that Canon will announce these either before or during Photokina 2014 in September. :D

Canon 7D Mark ii, 17-55 f2.8, 24-105L f4, 50 f1.8 stm, 85mm f1.8, Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS, Sigma 18-300 OS C, Canon Speedlite 430ex ii

OK, I would be in for one of these. On my last vacation I was getting tired of constantly swapping between 10-22 / 24-70 / 70-300 lenses, and a lightweight 18-300 would be nice. (I'd still keep the other lenses for low light work.)

... if it is a decent lens of course, in particular at the long end. But Canon's recent STM lenses give one hope that they could pull this off.

Tools: 70D, 10-22, Tamron 24-70 VC, 70-300L, 135 f2L

If it's EF, it could be interesting for certain purposes.

If it's EF-S, then it's just another boring crop-sensor superzoom which every lens manufacturer already has.

Not impressed with the 18-200 I cant imagine the 18-300 would be any better.

Agree about the 18-200 ... but the 18-135 STM is surprisingly sharp, perhaps they can pull a rabbit out of the hat again with a 18-300 STM.

I doubt it. It's a huge increase to the range. I think the 18-135 STM is nearing the edge of what's possible.

hmmm... Seems like a lens they would announce with the release of the next Rebel iteration, not their (rumored) successor to their flagship crop sensor.

Cameras: EOS 7d mark II, Fuji X100F, Leica M8, Leica M2-R,
Lenses: A Whole mess of them.

Wit the exception of 18-135 STM, I'm not interested in these ridiculous super ultra zooms.
You own a DSLR; part of the fun is that you can switch lenses so why would you want a zoom that cover almost every focal lenght at ****ty quality instead. meh

Ever shot in a sandstorm?

I wouldn't use one outside of a sandstorm, though...

Just because you can, doesn't mean you have to. There are other advantages to a dslr besides lens swapping.
