While there seem to be a fair amount of good looking messenger style camera bags I have yet to find a backpack that looks good... are there none?

I love my Vanguard and Lowepro packs.

Vanguard is used for housing all my current equipment

Lowepro is used for hikes and allows me to carry my 6D and one, maybe two lenses along with some small accessories like filters or cables etc.

This is so subjective, it's difficult to recommend any "good looking" backpacks without knowing what you think "good looking" means.

But I'll throw some out there that I think ook good.

I like the f-stop Loka, both for functionality and looks.

My daughter prefers this: http://www.amazon.com …ikachu-Doll/dp/B00523MRDI (external link)

If you really want good looking, you'll likely never find it in a backpack geared for photography. You're best off with camera specific inserts in a general purpose bag that fits your aesthetic requirements. Or just recognize that cameras are generally built pretty flipping beefy and that a lens cap is really all they need - I think most camera specific bags are way over-padded for the application.

I have bags from these guys and think they are pretty hot:

And my current EDC bag is this one:

This. I personally think that all three of these are ugly. Once again, everyone has their own taste.

The MindShift backpack is awesome. I put one on and tested it out in my local camera store and it was crazy! There is a pocket on the right side of the pack that holds your camera. When you want to access the camera, you reach over and the pouch itself comes sliding around your hip and to the front side of you so you can grab the camera all without taking the backpack off.

Watch example videos here.

I just got a Tenba messenger style insert and put it in my normal backpack. Now I have the "normal" (to me at least) access of a messenger bag (in that it's a top down access rather than laying it flat and opening like camera backpacks) when I unsling one shoulder, but don't have to carry a messenger bag (aka man purse).
Holds my gripped 6D with a 100mm L and has room for 2 more lenses. Other small stuff still fits in the backpack areas. That's all I need for most stuff around town. It's so nice to unzip a bag just enough to reach down and grab a lens or put one away without removing the backpack and setting it down and having to open almost all the way....as I have to do with my Tamrac expedition 7 which I bought for actual hiking.
I did sew the dividers in place though on the Tenba. The gripped 6D with a lens is heavy and cause the Velcro to pull apart sometimes. Now it's rock solid.

Cameras: 5D Mark IV, EOS 3, Elan 7

Tripod: Gitzo GT2531, Arca-Swiss Z1, RRS PC-LR
Lights: Photogenic PL1250 x2, 1500SL x1, Canon 580ex, YN 568ex II

I've got a Dakine Mission Photo 25L that looks just like this one. I love it, but I've been a big fan of Dakine bags for a while now. It looks just like their regular Mission backpack and doesn't scream "I'm carrying lots of expensive camera gear" wherever you go. It's really comfortable to wear for long periods and I've done a few day hikes with it.

My opinion is something along the lines of "I don't give a f**k what it looks like, as long as it is comfortable and works properly" (actually covers my feelings on a lot of things)
It's a backpack, it's going to be on my back, so I don't have to look at it.

Personally I like Kifaru bags, but they don't do a camera bag (the founders previous company, mountainsmith, does however !)
