Went to the coast this morning - it rained, not a lot but my gear still got wet.

I got back to the car, camera was working fine. Once I got home the buttons on the back and the display all inactive - though I can still take shots, none of the buttons (iso, live view, menu etc) are working.

Ive taken the card out, battery out and opened all available flaps and doors and leaving it to dry out. Hopefully it will work again.

So, anyone had a similar problem?

Heya,

Rice bath (with all ports/hatches/openings closed). Or those little silicon bags in a sealed box.

And pray...

Very best,

I havent trusted any touted sealed camera since the Nikonons days....and every point-n-shoot I've used that was sealed/waterproof has eventually been not. I bet a 1DX owner can taunt the rain but not me.

cheers all - Ive left it in a box, filled with rice sitting on top of my PC (which is on to generate some light heat) in a small room that normally gets nice and toasty.

Ill see what its like when I get home, might give it a blast with a hair dryer too :)

Fingers and toes crossed !!!!

Less than 9 hours between first post and your note that the camera works.

You really, really should leave the camera without batteries for a much longer time.

I have for good measure placed it back in the rice.... The anticipation got the better of me....But it works!!!!

I don't need it for a few days, so in the rice it will stay :)

What you don't want is to have galvanic reactions inside the camera. Currents transfer charges. And these charges needs not only be electrons through the wires of cables and PCB. So always allow ample time.
