Question to the model photographers WITHOUT 24-70 2.8 (and 35 1.4+70-200 2.8L II)

It it manageable with 35 1.4 + 70-200 2.8L II or do you miss the 24mm and too much switching?

Maybe you don't miss the 24mm as it's only 1 step behind from 35mm (and 70mm 2 steps forward).

For example I have to shoot a model event in a big castle (also outside shots).
I also want to have some shots with a lot of the castle on it.

So i'll have to switch between 17 3.5 UWA / 35 1.4 / 70-200 2.8LII
The modells will have to wait some time

I like the bokeh of the 35 1.4 and the fastness of the glass.
The 24-70 range isn't that big...

I wonder if there are others here working with the 35 1.4 + 70-200 2.8L II.

Sounds like someone needs a 2nd body.

If the only focal length you can think of that you would want from that zoom is 24mm, why not just entertain the 24L II?

When I'm taking portraits, I usually avoid focal lengths less than 35 to avoid perspective distortion. Of course, if you are doing wide environmental portraits (castle int his case), you may be able to go wider if you are careful with the 17. I don't really see how a 24-70 would help too much when you already have the Sigma 35 f/1.4. Everyone has their own style, but I prefer the primes for this type of work- 35 with the 85 L and/or 135. I sold 24-70 and 70-200 since I prefer the wider aperture of the primes for low light and portraits.

Well for me it's the 24L or 35 1.4 as they are so close and I prefer the 35mm for no distortion in environmental portraits.

The 24L's aren't cheap (even secondhand), I only have 700 USD cash left.
I could sell my 85 1.8 and 135L as I have the 70-200 2.8LII, but I keep the primes as they are compact/light and best price/quality

I checked Fredmiranda's database and I didn't find any affordable lens that i'm interested in, so i'll save the cash.

For the event with different models I can chose these setups :
35 1.4 + 70-200 2.8LII
or 35 1.4 + 85 1.2L + 135L

But 3 primes is maybe a bit unhandy for so much switching, and I should use my 70-200 2.8LII a lot more.
Also f2.8 is also less narrow than the f2.8 and a recognisable castle would be nice instead of a complete blurry background

I think you are good with what you have- like you said either the 35 along with your 70-200 or one of your fast primes. Since you want wider I would go with the 35 / 85 combo, but can't go wrong with any of these IMO.

I have tried 35L on one body with either 85L or 70-200mm f2.8 IS II on another but end up using the zoom lot more. I also have 24-70mm but that is more useful if only lens I am using and for more restrictive space situations.

Exactly, and you seem to have already the focal you need (if you prefer the 35), a second hand 5D2 will be more productive instead to sell and buy new lenses IMO
