Thanks Jimil.
Simplest setup. All you need is a long lens. In this case a 600mm telescope but 300mm would give you something worthwhile.
And Baader solar film which can be purchased off ebay or some photographic stores.
Colour is artificial. But the detail is real

Baader solar films are great for viewing and taking pictures of the sun but all images will be B&W and solar flares cannot be seen with a Baader solar film . For Solar Flares you must use a Solar Scope like these : http://www.meade.com/p​roducts/coronado.html (external link)

I would have to find a place that rents these as they are quite pricey for the single purpose type shots they would do. Still a very cool piece of glass!
