I posted some shots of this family of Pied-billed Grebes a couple of weeks ago. I went back on Sunday to get some more. All 7 chicks have survived and grown considerably. The parents were working hard to feed them all.

Shooting the feeding was a challenge and the results aren't stellar, but it was fun. The chicks would swim around waiting for a parent to surface with a fish and then race to grab it. So I had to spot the parent when it came up, lock focus and then shoot a burst as the chick came into the frame.

Thanks for looking.

Very well done Ken! Love the detail you managed and the focus of course too. These shots remind me very much of some Common Loon feeding shots I got last summer. It's always endearing to see parents providing for their young.

Great behavioral captures Ken.

Thanks for the comments. The feeding behavior of loons and grebes is very interesting and entertaining. I have a few shots of Eared Grebes, but they were much father away, so I was glad to get these.
