I love digital, dropped film years ago, but if I were doing that kind of business in film I might stay with it too. The investment in a professional digital world would requires a different business model, staff and training. When and if it makes good business sense to change, then that is the time to do it. Most professionals who have gone to digital have done it for good business reasons. It wasn't an emotional thing - or 'cool', it was business. I would predict that few will still be in film in 10 years, however. The expectations of the customer base will demand it and expect it. The few that remain in film will do it for artistic reasons.

Nothing wrong for the die-hard. I know alot of pros that are not switching to Digital for their own personal reasons. however each of them knows that eventually they will, they are all waiting for their own personal moments.

For me, film still has its place. I still shoot it, and will do so when given the opportunity. And for personally stuff. I still shoot film, and love it for their own personalized look.

Sometimes on the street, I still carry my Leica M4 and a 35mm Summilux.
I have a roll of Tri-X in it and there's about 13 good images on it....the rest will have to wait till the roll is finished...I don't have a strap on it, it just stays in the pocket untill I need it.....still miss the smell of fixer on my hands......sob.......don

Cheers, Don

I have a film SLR, but am looking to get into medium format, and digital MF is out of the question financially.

It's good to see that there is still alot of film shooters out there. Currently I am and it really makes me think what i want in each shot. Because its going to cost me money - I don't like to shoot over and over until one out of 100 comes up good!

I use both as the mood strikes but Idon't know where it says in my digital manual that I'm supposed to waste time taking lots of shots just because I can. If you want to take good photos it doesn't matter which media you use.

When I really miss the old wet darkroom work I shoot a roll of B&W and self medicate by developing and printing it. Actually I usually end up liking the shots a lot. They look almost digital!!!
