On the flip side of this argument, if I am giving criticism on a photo, I typically quote the photo so people can see exactly what I am talking about. I find that if I am reading such criticism that doesn't quote the photo, I end up having to scroll constantly up and down the page.

Total agreement with this. What difference does it make if it takes up space on the page? I can just keep scrolling until I find a post I want to see. Besides, there are some pics on here that I don't mind seeing over and over.

I have coded some solutions to that, and I did not like how they looked and felt. excessive long quotes will be handled in some way some day, it's on to do list.

Facebook has a good solution. First 6 or 7 lines are listed followed by.........

The difference it makes is that web pages with large photos, or a lot of medium-sized photos, take forever to load (for those of us who cannot afford really high speed internet service). I hate waiting 30 seconds or more for a single page to load. This is one of the things that really detracts from the quality of my time here on POTN.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I have thought about mobile bandwidth limiting (per client) . AMASS stores size and validity info for every single photo in the forums, and renders according to rules. I could quite easily make members a personal settings (per device)
- file size limit when to hide embedded photos (it is now 1MB)
- pixel size limit when not to show embedded photos (it is now 1280 box)
- "do not show quoted images"
- load images only for x first posts on the page.
etc.

Post exceeding those limits would not simply "display nothing", but a link to the photo with some message explaining why it is not shown), or a "show this" button.

But, all that kind of "fun" coding is to be done after version 1 is out. I really love tuning and improving browsing experience, but now it is time for the boring coding to get upgrade done.

That would be good to have that option regardless if we do have high-speed unlimited broadband, because it would render/load the page out faster, though as you say, let's get MK1 of AMASS out first before all the fine tuning is done :)
