Intense hawk cries and squirrel screams caused me to run out to the deck. The commotion came from the top of a tree across the street (about 120 feet away). I saw 2 red-tailed hawks circling the tree and the 3rd one busying himself in the foliage
In the next moment, an adult squirrel charged up the branch. The poor thing must have been really desperate to save the nest to charge a full grown hawk like that! The hawk made a threatening move and the poor squirrel turned around and retreated (look closely and you'll see the squirrel at the lower left corner of the picture, and the hawk on the upper right)

Shortly after, the hawk burst out of the tree with a new born squirrel in his beak.

I know ... it's nature ... but I still feel bad for the squirrel.
(Picture quality is not that great. At this time, my longest lens is the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II. These pictures were taken hand held with the 2X III converter)
