Hi,

I have just bought a Godox AD 360 and started to use it with my YN-622C TX and YN-622C units.

As I read it in the forum it works well with PC Sync to PC Sync connection when I want to use it on high shutter speed. I only noticed that when I for example change the shutter speed from /2000 to /4000 it makes an effect on the flash exposure too. I made the test in a dark room so there was no ambient light. Is it normal?

I tried to make the SuperSync with my YN-622C TX on my 6D and the AD360 on the hot shoe of YN-622C but there was banding. Can you give me tip how should I setup the timing of the YN-622C TX?

Thanks in advance!

In H mode the AD360 is a constant light source. Thus, changing the shutter speed will affect exposure just as it does with any constant light source.

The AD360 uses IGBT for power control. That means its does not support SuperSync. SuperSync relies on the tail of a voltage controlled flash to illuminate the subject during shutter travel.

The only time the AD360 will work as a SuperSync light source is at full power.

Just to take David's comment a little further. The AD360 is limited in HSS ("H" mode) to like 10 1/1 power pops, 20 1/2 power pops etc... I am speaking about the old AD360's but I know even the new AD360II is limited to 20 1/1 power pops. What I do when using HSS is to not use "H" mode (HSS) but rather use 1/1 power and hypersync/supersync/faux HSS (what ever you want to call it) then I can shoot unlimited with no restriction or worry of over heating. But like David says that only works in 1/1 power so if you use HSS at lower power you will have to use "H" mode.

For faux HSS at 1/1 you'll need a TTL transmitter with flash sync timing so you can adjust the delay of the FP HSS signal to optimize the flash exposure. I use the Godox X1 transmitter and the new XTR16 receiver plugs into the wireless control port of the AD360. I even use this setup on the new AD360II so as to bypass the HSS auto feature of the "X" system. I think you can use a YN622TX in the same way but I prefer the new X1 to the YN622TX, it looks nicer. :-) Actually Godox products were made to work with Godox products so no need for cords or workarounds.

Rand,
Do those limits for H mode have a time component?
I've never had a problem with the unit quitting on me but then again, I don't shoot that fast when using H mode, and often have it at 1/4 power since its more fill than anything else.

And, for those of you with Sony cameras, the Pixel King with a Sony hot foot works fine to deliver FP-sync signal from the camera. The AD360 has to be connected to a receiver via a PC cable.

I can only speak from my experience and I am sure there probably is a time limit but, I have shot really slow and I always have reached thermal limits. Not sure how slow you would have to shoot but I am not patient enough to test that. I have noticed that they have doubled those thermal limits from the CL360 to the AD360II.
