I am wanting to downgrade my firmware from 7d's 2.0.5 to 2.0.3 in order to upload magic lantern.

Does anyone know where I can still get 2.0.3 firmware from?

I need the file in a mac format.

I have literally been looking for hours now! so surprised others haven't talked about this much.

Many thanks,

Samantha. UK London.

The firmware file isn't any specific format, it is a proprietary file. Here is the FIR file that you would drop right onto your card's root directory, and then do the firmware update via the camera.

Yes, most of the time you can, but perhaps not if you have 2.0.5 on the 7D, if you believe Canon's write up.

'EOS 7D Digital SLR

Firmware
Firmware Version 2.0.5 incorporates the following fix:

Fixes a phenomenon in which the image files cannot be transferred using the FTP protocol via USB cable after the Canon EOS 7D camera has established a wireless connection to the Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E5A.

Firmware Version 2.0.5 is for cameras with firmware version 2.0.3. If the camera's firmware is already Version 2.0.5, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Once the camera is updated to version 2.0.5, it cannot be restored to a previous firmware version.

However, this tells a different story.

Thanks team speed. That answered my question. I could only find that file when searching and thought it was not suitable for macs.

Many thanks.

Think of it this way it's being installed on your Camera not your Computer so no need for Win Mac specific , now to my question is there a stable good working version of ML for the 7D as far as I know and that may have changed there wasn't one ?

I just received a refurb 7D from Canon with 2.0.3. Apparently Canon doesn't update them?

Thanks for the explanation. I was very close to download an alpha version of magic lantern but on closer consideration have decided against it for now. I'm so keen to shoot in raw that I am just going to upgrade to a 5d instead and use Ml that way. I just got so nervouse about installing the alpha version on my 7d that I bottled it! :)

I would like to add however that I successfully installed 2.0.3 from 2.0.5. Very simple and all working fine.

The 7D stuff has been out there for a very long time, and the changes in the change logs seem to be more around other models, and hardly anything for the 7D.

http://www.magiclantern.fm …/index.php?topic=9848.450 (external link), seems stable enough?
