I dont even know if there is such thing as Instagram specialists, but whatever.
I'm not that big into use of Social Media, but need a little assistance.
So here is a question;

I have 4 images I would like to throw up to my instagram

The image sizes are 600x390,600x420,620x400,640x200px

from what I understand IG allows you the highest limit of 640x640px

Now when I go to upload the image from my phone, the image is zoomed in, or maybe scaled in. If I pinch out of the image I can see it in full, but the minute I let go its back to an annoying square which probably makes the photo is like 400x400px.

It wont let me get the entire image, either can get the half of the front or half of the back or half of the top or half of the bottom.

I dont get it, my images are all under 640x640,therefore I'm not going over the sizes, why wont it let me get the entire image ?

Is there a workaround or perhaps another way of uploading the images without facing this limitation or constraint.

Please feel free to chime in.

install squareit if you're on android or squareready if you're on iphone.

instagram is lame and it wont automatically add the border for you, those apps will.

they also don't have a resolution restriction only a 1:1 crop restriction.

I like using 1280 on the long side before tossing it into the square app, then onto IG, uploads perfectly every time.

if you still want the 1:1 crop, toss the photo into snapseed crop it, edit,etc.. then post onto instagram

Crop it to what ? I dont want to crop the images. The sizes that I have is the size that I want to use. I do not want to change anything about those images. All of them are under 640x640px limits, but when I try to select the images its like forcing me to have it cropped further.

I said "if" you want to crop it.

They don't have a 640 limit, like I mentioned. I can toss a 4,000x4,000px image onto it no problem.

They have a 1:1 aspect limit, it has to be perfectly 1:1 like 640x640 or 1280x1280.

To get it perfectly 1:1 install one of the apps I mentioned and it will do it for you without cropping anything out.

Looking at it right now, does that kill the IQ in anyway ? Or just shrinks the image ?

it shrinks it a little bit, to add the borders to get a perfectly 1:1 image

No IQ loss, check out my instagram if you want to see examples @alex.corona
