I am planning to buy a Canon ip4200 but I wonder what Canon paper is the best in terms of color for photo printing. Th ematte paper, for instance is way cheaper than glossy, is the color difference worth it?

The way I understand it: Canon Printer - Canon Paper - Canon Ink. This will give you the best results. Works best for me. I've read that each manufacturer formulates their paper and inks to work together with their printers.

I've only used their glossy photo paper pro, and love the results. Haven't used their other papers yet. I'd suggest buying a small pack of each and trying for yourself.

I've been very happy with Canon's Photo Paper Plus Glossy. Since I haven't tried anything else yet, I'll have to let others offer comparisons.

I just made the switch to Illford Smooth Pearl from the higher price Canon paper. It works very well with my iP6000D. You might want to give it a try.

Good question. I have only been using Photo Paper Pro in my i9900 and i900D, but I am considering trying something else for Matte finish. I will keep an eye on this thread.

I haven't been able to find Illford paper for sale anywhere locally. I feel silly paying an internet retailer to ship paper because it seems like this might offset the higher cost of the Canon paper.

Do you have a Sams Club Near You? They carry the Illford.

Hey, thanks for the tip - that has to be the one place I haven't looked yet. I'll check it out.

In Mexico Sam's only carries NCR photo paper of several different types. I just wonder if someone has tried them. The price is about 40% less than Canon.
