Recently I've been seeing kingfishers feeding in my area, but have not been able to connect. This morning about 8:30 I walked up behind my blind, looked over the top of it, and saw this fellow on my strategic perch, just 25' away. He was on the qui vive as I crawled into the blind, but soon the bullheads diverted his attention. It's interesting that they don't mind the shutter noise at all as long as they don't see one move. The first shot is un-cropped.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Good for you Al, the wait was worth it. I've found the same thing about the shutter sound...doesn't bother them a bit as long as nothing moves.

Wow gorgeous shots! Most of the birds around here do not mind the shutter noise either. Sudden movement tends to spook them.

Outstanding shots Allen! The shutter sound many times gets some nice poses and attitude. As a side note, this guy is gal. :-)
