These are from this morning. I approached my blind around 10 AM and found this kingfisher sitting on my perch trying to devour a rather large bullhead. It had already consumed the tail portion, but was then thwapping the remainder to soften it up before eventually swallowing it. Then, being sated, it stayed on the perch to preen and pose. 560 shots and 40 minutes later it finally flew off.

This is the bullhead part......

Thank you kindly everyone; getting to photograph a kingfisher at this range is really a thrill. And actually Craig (Grizz), I had meant to relocate my perch a bit farther out in the water because at 25' with a 500 mm lens I sometimes have trouble fitting him in the frame. Perhaps next year.....
