I received my American Express Rebate card for buying a lens.

I'm just wondering if there is anyway to get the full $200 off of the card either in cash, or a transfer??
I talked to an AE customer rep earlier and he said if I use the card and there is any balance left on it, even a penny, I will be charged a monthly fee of $2.
So, that is why I would like to get the full amount off the card and then close the account.

Why don't they just mail you a check?

A lot of places let you split the bill between multiple cards. Just buy something more expensive than the balance on the card and pay cash (or with another credit card) for the rest.

This is what I do too. It's the quickest and easiest way to use up the money.

Canon rebates come to you as a pre-paid AM-EX credit card.

I tried to buy at B&H which is where I usually get my equipment but I couldn't use the rebate card along with Paypal.

I ended up using it somewhere else
