If it is not a 'sharp lense' I will sue you all! make sure you test it for decentering. also, many will have backlash in the focusing ring. lots of details here: Dean Chiang

Nothing I said was meant to be hostile and I never took anything you said to be either Xyclopx wrote in post #17100157 i wouldn't get one unless if the one you're interested in matches or betters the canon equivalent in optics, which apparently the 14mm and 24mm do. I was merely stating that the 35mm and 85mm are also equal or better than the Canon equivalents, as are most of their lenses. Fuji X-T3 // Fuji X-Pro2 (Full Spectrum) // Fuji X-H1 // Fuji X-T1

You implied that only the Samyang 14 and 24mm lenses were worth buying. I was merely stating that the 35mm and 85mm are also equal or better than the Canon equivalents, as are most of their lenses. yeah sorry, I didn't mean to imply that. I never used or researched either of those so I wouldn't know how they perform. I just know that the 14mm and 24mm have some advantages over their canon (and other) competitors. Dean Chiang

They are also built quite well. They're built better than the cheap plastic stuff Canon pops out. I don't see someone complaining about that. They cost what they cost due to very good optics with the apertures that they drop them at. If you compare these optics to premium Canon glass, you'll find similarities, and in some cases, these optics are better. A great example is the 24mm F1.4 compared to Canon's 24 F1.4L II, where the Samyang is better in basically every way, and simply is a manual lens, and costs a 3rd of the price. They are not "cheap" lenses because they have quality glass, quality coatings, and some of the widest apertures you can get for those focal lengths. They're affordable due to lack of electronic mechanisms. And some folk will prize them because they're manual, so they're not for the point & shoot types, and mostly are selected by people very interested in control (which is why they shoot an SLR in the first place likely). The Samyang 85mm F1.4 is one of the best portrait lenses out there for it's cost. It's very well built, sharp wide open at F1.4, and has great contrast and color rendering. It's much better than the Canon EF 85 F1.8 which costs a bit more but has Autofocus, and it's in the fighting ring with the Sigma 85 F1.4. But the Samyang clocks in at $280 typically brand new, instead of $350~400 and $900. As for cost and optics, consider these are not small pieces of glass. Samyang 85mm F1.4 at F1.4: ![]() ![]() $280 lens that produces that kind of bokeh and overall quality. Very best, Why are you selling it?

Because I lust, lust, lust, for a Helios 40-2 and I don't need 3 85mm lenses once I buy that Helios. The Helios is not as sharp, it's not as high quality in any regard, the Samyang is better. But for me, it's not about having the best lens (obviously seeing what I shoot with), it's about the product. I like the weird unique bokeh of the Helios. Luckily my G.A.S. problems are manual lenses typically that don't break the bank. But for now, I won't buy it while owning 2 85mm lenses currently. So if I ever sell my Samyang, I'll buy the Helios immediately. My other 85mm is my EF 85 F1.8, since it's such a fast lens for action and sports with the kids.
