Can a PS monitor video remotely and record at the same time?

I'm looking to buy a couple cameras for work to record experiments remotely and by remotely, I mean a few feet away behind bullet proof glass. It would be nice to view the video in real time but also record it too.

Ideally, I'd like to output the video directly to a video monitor (TV or computer monitor) and I can just get up and hit the record button before the experiment begins.

Alternatively, I can also output the video to a computer and view it on the monitor, but then I'd need two computers, one for each camera.

So does anybody know if a canon point and shoot can record video and output it live to a monitor or computer?

Thanks.

With a WIFI camera you can remotely operate the camera on either picture or video and use your android phone as your viewing screen.

Thanks for the tip. I was hoping to avoid using a phone or tablet because often times we have half a dozen people watching and it's kind of hard for them to all crowd around such a little screen.

So I emailed Canon and they said no powershots can monitor and record remotely at the same time.

Have a go with an android tablet. They have some larger models with very sharp screens. If that doesn't work you could chromecast to a mega screen ...

I think they misunderstood. If you have an android phone or tablet as Nic pointed out, download the "Canon Camera Window". When you open it the second item on the list is "Perform Remote Shooting". This is what I was talking about.

Hmmm...Chromecast...I'll have to read up on that and other similar things. Thanks.

When I emailed Canon I basically copied and pasted what is in my original post, but I also specifically said no wifi to a tablet. That's probably why they said there's no capability.

Anyway, thanks, you both have planted ideas on how it can be done.
