I totally abandoned hss as well.

The Rovelight is truly a great light in my eyes at this point, at a great price. Been using it a year almost everyday. It absolutely stands on its own as a great light even without the hss option in my opinion.

Hi, What have you tried so far? On older but recent Canon bodies, you'd just need two Cells II Cs one on-cam & one wired to the Jinbei/Rovelight. The Jinbei/Rovelight needs its (long duration) 'H' icon showing. You'd need Hi- Speed enabled on your Canon body (page 267). However the 1DXII is new enough to have some wrinkles of its own, unknown to me as a 5DIII user. Whether or not Piggybacking the Jinbei sender with a single on-cam CellsIIC works or not, I don't know.

Can anyone tell me how to change the flashtube on the Rovelight? Mine fell today and shattered and the little wires tore free. I tried inserting a replacement flashtube but the unit still won't fire. I suspect it's something to do with the wire that was wrapped around the broken tube. I really hope this is something I can fix and not have to send in for repairs.

Oh that's nice. Not nice price tag though!

Right. Would you rather have two rovelights, or one of the new ones. Easy question to answer, for myself anyway.

There will be a cheaper manual version as well.

How much cheaper I don't know, though you would imagine they are trying to stay competitive with Godox etc.

I had a play with one of these.

The interface is really nice, nicer than the Godox AD600. It also seems lighter then the AD600 but I could be wrong. Having a handle is also nice when it comes to tilting the strobe up and down, bit harder than the AD600.

The Jinbei HD-610 HSS TTL

is probably worth its own thread as it's a very different light with, IMO, modest backwards compatibility to the Rovelight/Jinbei HD600 types.
It does look interesting and well designed.

Can't say I would be remotely interested in buying a similar sized light that used a different battery pack. It is bad enough with the AA, AAA, and two styles of battery pack (plus the batteries in my 7D bodies) that are already in my collection. I'll have no interest in adding more non-interchangeable batteries to the mix.

Much better modeling light. That is the only reason I have not pulled the trigger on the GODOX AD600 (weak modeling light)

After a few months of using this unit out in the field in cold and hot weather the HSS/Hypersync stopped working.
It happened out at a job . Fires in M mode but with HSS on ...nothing. Called Adorama, hopefully will get a brand new replacement.

Studio ordered the Flashpoint EXPO 600 because Cheetahstand is backordered. .... we will see if this strobe is as durable as the Rove.

This looks pretty slick, but there is one thing that really concerns me, which is how as these imported lights get more and more like their industry-giant counterparts (this Jinbei 610 looks like a Profoto B1 mated with a Broncolor Siros), so too does the price gap close. Here in the states, the HD600 is a decent deal at Adorama's current $369 retail price, but if this new model is actually going to sell for $749, it's going to be competing with the big boys who offer much better warranties and service in line with what professional photographers expect. $750 is a lot of money for a unit that has no repair/service available after the 1-year warranty is up. It has me wondering if either the manufacturer or retails of these are going to step up their support game.
