My 2p - I'm not a pro shooter.

Reliability has been 100%. I use Odins (Strato II on the light) for both range and Hypersync/ODS - it's not pulsing HSS. My Jinbei trigger (remote power setting) has been basic (you've only got the beep to go on) but OK. Adorama's V2 Tx is supposedly improved considerably. Power feels like genuine 600ws unlike most others. You will get auto power dump pops. It's quite heavy; 3.7 Kg / 8.16 lb. My single battery - no change in behaviour so far - nearly 12m. I intend to pick up a spare battery in one year's time. Overall it's slightly agricultural - not polished. Effective and unpretentious. I like mine.

Reliability for me has been 100%. Triggers have not been a malfunctioning thing. My trigger changes power levels and triggers the light no problem. However, I use Yongnuo triggers regardless because they are simply bullet proof and work with all my other lights together when I want them all. I use both RF603 & YN622. I only use the YN622 when I want HSS. It works great. I shoot my light mainly in manual mode though, so that I can meter accurately with my light meter.

I bought the Rovelight for an outdoor 600ws HSS capable portable strobe.

After using it since release, I use it as a manual strobe and I don't use HSS, but only because I really like the speed of light meter and I'm totally ok with an ND filter if I need it.

I really enjoy it and it's very reliable, as a manual strobe. Battery has been great, still handles tons of shots.

Very best,

I wish I could join in on the 100% reliable club, but can't at this point. See my thread HERE for some of the recent problems I've had.

Recently the metal casing that's embedded in the sync port and that secures the sync jack came off. I noticed it when I pulled out my sync cord. There was no unusual force either. I noticed part of that metal was brittle which may have caused it to get loose internally. Has anyone had any similar problems? I use that port to connect my YN622, which now I can't use. Suggestions anyone?

Contacting Adorama support is probably your best next step, if for no other reason than to make sure they're aware of the potential flaw. I haven't had an issue with mine yet, and don't remember seeing other users reporting it, but I may have missed/forgotten posts about it.

I've not had mine apart yet, but I would hope the design allowed for a nice easy fix for anyone familiar with electronics.

Looks like you can glue it back on; probably loose/not enough glue.
I would dab some wood glue around the barrel and slot it back in; when it dries it'll stick along the edges.

You guys know if Helen is still the "go to" person? I know she's been really helpful to many here in the past.

She is,

She can get you in touch with one of the Flashpoint tech guys, they can video chat with you to describe how to deal with the issue, or at least give you the info for using repair/warranty problems as this is not something that normally should happen. Mine hasn't come loose. But like all things, everything can break eventually. Contact Helen & Support, they're good at making it right. It's the only reason I shop there is for the service when I buy new.

Very best,

I reached out to her and per their tech, they say it's not repairable. I find that hard to believe for such a small inner casing, which seems to me, should be easy to replace. And if not, that makes me question the quality of such unit.

She did offer me 1/2 off a new unit, which is a kind gesture but still a lot of money for what seems like a minor fix. She's getting a second opinion from their tech dept so I'm waiting to hear back. Hoping we can find a resolution to this as I really enjoy using my strobe but now can't take advantage of HSS.

I though V2 of their trigger did HSS (SS, whatever).

I don't think the V2 will but the Cells apparently will.

Dilleyo725 " .. but now can't take advantage of HSS .. "
I hope you get sorted - you need the sync port for the early trigger needed under the Rovelight's "H" setting for Supersync. (Just for reference, I would guess that Micheal Bass (CT) would charge between $100 -$150 for a sync port renewal.)

MedicinSC " .. I thought V2 of their trigger did HSS .. "
No - or at least, only when the Version 2 sender is itself being fed the early trigger (by ?Godox X1 or equivalent).

Trigger update:

AFAIK the pinnacle trigger for Adorama's Rovelight is their Version 2 trigger - more reliable & slightly better range but still with the workaround as above needed for "H" use. (Or you could use Adorama's version of the Cells II for 'H' use, but you'd need two units; one to send & one to receive - other configurations compromise reliability.)

OTOH, Jinbei's HD600v, which on a worldwide basis is more common, now has an updated trigger with an LCD screen & direct "H" timing available. Although these units are very similar to the Rovelight, AFAIK their triggering is not interchangeable. The Jinbei TR-A6 offers high reliability, much improved range, the LCD screen as well as direct but remote enablment of the HD600v's "H" setting - via the built-in receiver.

Note that Jinbei's HD610 TTL strobe is a different animal entirely.

I'm advised that WE cannot repair it - but that it can be soldered (at the risk of electrocution.....)
Radio shack should sells everything needed, or any small electronics shop can fix it.
