No - or at least, only when the Version 2 sender is itself being fed the early trigger (by ?Godox X1 or equivalent).

Trigger update:

AFAIK the pinnacle trigger for Adorama's Rovelight is their Version 2 trigger - more reliable & slightly better range but still with the workaround as above needed for "H" use. (Or you could use Adorama's version of the Cells II for 'H' use, but you'd need two units; one to send & one to receive - other configurations compromise reliability.)

OTOH, Jinbei's HD600v, which on a worldwide basis is more common, now has an updated trigger with an LCD screen & direct "H" timing available. Although these units are very similar to the Rovelight, AFAIK their triggering is not interchangeable. The Jinbei TR-A6 offers high reliability, much improved range, the LCD screen as well as direct but remote enablment of the HD600v's "H" setting - via the built-in receiver.

Note that Jinbei's HD610 TTL strobe is a different animal entirely.

Yeah, went back and double checked. I use the 622C's, so didn't pay much attention to what the page said about the HSS when I was ordering. You are correct, of course.

my 60" Westcott fits fine but have to say that umbrella mount on the RL is the strangest deal. How unnecessary.

I ordered a Rovelight last week and received it on Friday. I charged the battery and then tried to use it. The light went off after a couple minutes and never came back on. There was also an electrical burn smell. I emailed Adorama's customer service and Helen on Friday and didn't receive a response until Sunday. Then, I was sent a shipping label and the email said that they would send a replacement out 3-5 business days after they received the defective light back.

When I emailed Helen, she said to send the tracking number to her once I dropped the old one off and that she would get them to send the new one as soon as the old one showed up in the UPS tracking system. This should have gotten it shipped by today at the latest, which would have gotten it to me in Friday. I sent her the email after I dropped it off and never heard from her again. I sent her another email this morning asking her if he replacement would ship today. I never heard a word from her. Now, it is very unlikely that I will have the light by this weekend, which was my goal.

In the past, I've used Adorama to order my camera gear for work and B&H for my personal stuff. This is because Adorama is easy about accepting purchase orders and because we followed a rep there from another company. I've never had any issues with the tens of thousands of dollars I've spent at work, possibly because everything has worked correctly. But, this situation makes me rethink using Adorama.

Maybe I've just been spoiled by Amazon and their customer service, but when I order something, I expect it to work and when it doesn't, I expect it to be taken care of efficiently.

That sounds frustrating. For what it's worth, I think your experience may be an anomaly, based on a lot of anecdotal evidence in this forum.

I personally have had very good luck with the Adorama / Helen combo. I return very few things, but I've had to return two items to Adorama. Both times it was painless and quick, and Helen expedited things effectively in one of the cases. Hope your Rovelight issue gets resolved soon..

Owen.

I apologise; I am not able to authorise cross-shipping. Per my email to you, I sent 3 requests for this before my email was answered. As I explained, on my third email a new order was created, however this item is now on back order with an ETA of early next week.

Soooo.... this had me searching. I'm assuming you meant 600b? I can't find an 800, but would be interested in it if it does in fact exist. :-P

Perhaps you ordered the wrong Flashpoint product rather than ordering from the wrong dealer?

I own both Rovelight 600B's and an Explor 600 and if the Explor had been available at the time I bought my Rovelights, I know which I would have picked, especially after following this thread and seeing all the issue that other RL600B users have reported. I've had good luck with my Rovelights but the Explor 600's are much more user friendly in the Godox X system.

The only plus I have found in using the Rovelight is you get about 2/3 stop more flash exposure than the Explor 600. But, in HSS the Rovelight has a flash exposure gradient and you need to use flash sync timing to really optimize the flash exposure. The Rovelights are a bit lower in price but the frustration in dealing with them at times is not worth the difference to me.

Has anyone had trouble with the batteries? I've just had my 2nd battery die and I just don't know if I want to invest any more money into this system.

Mine's good too - about 18m old - but not heavy use.

I don't know what normal practice is, but I just recharge until the light change and then leave unplugged. I never re-charge while the battery is still in the light, assuming that it would over-heat.

My cable/plug connection to my RL 600 has worried me. I bought a cable with the 1/4 to 1/8 adapter to connect to my YN 622. The problem is it stuck out quite a ways from the back of the RL600 body (see first photo on the left) and every time I used the connection I found a way to bump it, causing it to get looser, and I was worried about permanent damage to the flash unit. So I bought a 90 degree plug (set of 4 actually) and replaced the large 1/4 plug with the 90 degree - 1/8 plug on the end of the cable ( https://www.amazon.com …age_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (external link) ). You can follow along in the picture sequence. In the second shot I metered the old plug to make sure I had the right wire for the center of the plug and the outer part. In the third shot I show the soldering done to the plug guts. Note: Make sure you feed the cable suport part of the plug onto the wire BEFORE you do the soldering. Last picture shows the result. Very compact, not hanging out to get caught on anything passing by. The wire could even be taped against the body for additional security. I tested it and works great.
