I have a couple of different reflectors, etc. They all fit securely but loose. I don't think that is a problem at all.

I want to be sure I have my math right. 1 Rovelight at 1/2 power is equal to 1 godox ad 360 at full power. I know it seems simple enough, but just want to double check to make sure.
thanks

Way too much stuff:p

Heya,

Pretty sure I read that the AD360 is 1.8 stops lower (than the Rovelight) and 1 stop lower than the Godox RS600P.

I think I read it in the flash havoc review, and they have a graphic showing it both out of HSS (where these numbers came from) and in HSS.

Very best,

Just got mine today and although it's raining out I was able to test against a white wall. Pretty amazing stuff. Look forward to testing it outside. :-).

My replacement came today too. Charging the battery up right now. Just in time for me to end up going to work for a few days... sigh.

Well, it is a portable light...

Heya,

So it charged up just in time. It's late evening here in Florida, so I didn't need HSS or high power or anything. I just wanted to test the light to see if it really worked and didn't die on me like my last one did.

Took the squirt outside. Shot at 1/200s, F2.8, ISO 100 from a good 15 feet away or so.
Rovelight power set to around 1/64. Nothing special going on.
No modifier used, other than the little bowl & 6 inch diffuser cover that came with the light (I didn't drag out the 48" octa).
I held the Rovelight in my left hand, handled my camera & shot with my right hand. Was a little cumbersome to say the least, lol.

The spread and softness even at low power and from a distance is pleasant.

I can't wait to really put it to work with my modifiers on a stand though, and in bright light to take advantage of the HSS and try some things. But that'll take me a few more days as I have to work the next two nights. Bleh!

Very best,

I can no longer recommend Rovelights due to my poor experience with their transmitters. You can read my experience here:

Yes, that Rovelight remote is pure junk. Very inconsistent.

Pursang... I feel your pain. Question though, did you toss the oem batteries and replace with new ones? Is this how you had the High sync setup in combo with CellsIIc trigger?

I'm probably one of the earliest adopters of these Rovelight. Other than the trigger going to sleep mode, I have not experienced the same inconsistencies as you did. However, I don't use them in high sync mode as often as you do.

I've used the original remote for several hundred pops at this point without issue. They are fine for a close line of sight adjustment, but I would not try to rely on something using a single button cell for anything more than that.

Because they don't have a remote feedback system I wouldn't really want to try and use it for more than adjusting the light while it was up on a stand and was on the ground next to it close enough to read the settings anyway.

They could be far better, but compared to what better systems are currently running for it seems like a reasonable compromise if you keep the limitations in mind. It isn't a 1200w/s system, which could be really useful, but I don't hold that against it either and don't expect it to provide that.

(I do wish the units included a cold shoe/threaded mounting point to securely attach remote triggers.)

Yes that is how I use mine as illustrated in your image. And yes I have replaced the original CR2032 battery. I'm happy your works fine in the environments you operate. As I stated in my review, I only purchased these for on location work so seldom in studio.

I hated the transmitters as well and I've tried one from photogadget.com as well. I've moved on to using the YN622c and I use HSS almost exclusively. Lights = good. Transmitter = sucks.
