We are aware of the issues regarding the trigger, and are currently in the process of developing a new one.

I'm awaiting clarification from the Flashpoint Brand Manager as to when we think they will be available to ship.
If you have had issues of unreliability with your trigger it would be helpful if you could send me a quick email - with your order number: Helen@adorama.com

How will this work Helen? Will everyone who purchased get a new trigger for free? Or only if you have reported issues?

Thanks.

This is welcome news! It would address the major weakness of an otherwise great package.

The $2.50 Rovelight transmitter that sells for $70 is just down right pathetic. You can buy 2 Godox FT16 tx/rcv sets for about the same price and they are just a much better and more reliable system all around but you are controlling a flash that gets only about 10 HSS flashes before you have to recycle so you take the good with the bad. I recently bought two Rovelights to use while Phottix tries to resolve the issues I have been having with my Indras. I bought 2 Rovelights with spare batteries and a spare receiver for about the same price as I paid for 1 Indra with a spare battery (no transmitter) so cost wise it seems that I would have very little to complain about especially where I am not using them professionally. I have bought a second Phottix Odin receiver to where I can at least trigger both my 600B's in HSS reliably so if I have to change flash power at the flash itself then I will have to live with that, besides I need the exercise. I once had great hope for the Phottix Indra system but the issues I have had with them and the disappointment I have in them currently makes any issues I have with the Rovelight transmitters minor in comparison. As long as the 600B flash units themselves remain reliable and I can trigger them in HSS with either my Odin or Yongnuo YNE3 systems I can make do.

That was my thought as well before buying the RL. At least with RL I know I can use 622c as reliable transmitter/receiver.

Right now I'm compiling a list of customers who have emailed me.

Right now I do not know how the FlashPoint brand team plan to resolve all these issues with individual customers, only that they have started working with the factory to develop an improved trigger.

As soon as I have an update, I will report back.

Helen - I am sure we all hope to see improvements over time. The Rovelight itself seems to work fine and if we can add any suggestions a transmitter more in line with the Godox one with a display would be a fantastic upgrade to this system. It would be great to see what your settings are from the transmitter.

Yes,

But it has the Flashpoint mount.

You'll note that the Bowen's mount version is $480.

They often do a sale on the Flashpoint mount because... it's less popular. Bowen's is more universal. Flashpoint is less universal and proprietary to the Flashpoint brand (which is a Jinbei with a re-brand).

I paid extra for the Bowen's mount because I didn't want to have to modify the mounts on my modifiers (all of them) to be able to fit to the Flashpoint mount. It would have cost the same, or more, to do that for me. So getting Bowen's mount allowed me to just use my current modifiers without having to change anything. Worth it to me.

Very best,

I got an email from Helen asking for my order number. I'd be surprised if there was a new trigger anytime soon, but you never know.

Hi, Can anyone clear up the labeling / version / region thing for me please?

Early types were HD 600, then came HD 600 II (which, I think was identical to the 'Rovelight') - but now the Jinbei site (and some vendors) are showing a HD 600 V with a transmitter unit 'TRS-V'.

Has anyone got an over-view of what's what? I think the longer burn down to 1/16th arrived with the 'II' / Rovelight' - but does the 'V' signal an updated (?not backwards compatible) Trigger? TIA
